My Story

Walk for Alice house hospice (long term unit) which is at risk of closure, in memory of Stuart Luck.

Dear friends and family,

John (Stuart’s best friend) is organising a walk to raise funds for Alice house hospice (long term unit), the hospice that provided exceptional care and support to john’s dear friend Stuart during his last months. Their kindness and compassion left a lasting impression on everyone and John wants to give back in any way he can.

John will start the walk on the Sunday 23rd of April, walking with his youngest daughter Sophie from the Hartlepool football ground to Middlesbrough football ground.

Then the following day John & his eldest daughter Jenna will start their 100 mile walk, starting from the Middlesbrough football ground, which will end Sat 29th at the Middlesbrough V Rotherham game (in Rotherham) as Stuart was a massive boro fan.

When Stuart Luck was diagnosed with a terminal illness, his family turned to the local hospice for end-of-life care. From the moment Stuart arrived, he was met with compassion and kindness from the hospice's staff. They worked tirelessly to ensure that Stuart’s comfort was the top priority, managing his symptoms and providing him with pain relief so that he could spend his final moments in peace. The hospice staff also went above and beyond to support Stuart’s family (brother Ian & sister Jill) providing them with emotional support and guidance during this difficult time. The hospice's dedication to creating a welcoming and hospitable environment for both Stuart and his family was truly exceptional, making their stay as comfortable and stress-free as possible. Thanks to the hospice's exceptional care, Stuart was able to spend his final moments surrounded by his loved ones, with the knowledge that he was in the best possible hands. The impact of the hospice's care on Stuart and his family is a testament to the power of compassionate care and the importance of providing support during life's most challenging moments.

Our goal is to raise as much money as we can to help Alice house continue to provide compassionate care to their patients and families. Every donation, no matter how small, makes a difference.

All funds raised will be donated directly to Alice house to support their mission.

Please consider making a donation to help us reach our fundraising goal, even and if you cannot donate, sharing this campaign with your friends and family is greatly appreciated.

I will keep everyone updated on our fundraising progress.

Thank you for your support
